All our Christian icons are created according to traditional Eastern Orthodox religious painting canons. We use only natural materials such as wooden board (oak, walnut or linden), gesso (chalk ground) and gold leaf for gilding. For paint, we use traditional egg tempera - pigment and egg yolk - to produce an authentic and long-lasting finish that is sealed with protective varnish. CUSTOM ORDER: Most of our icons are made to order and we are happy to create a custom icon just for you! If you would like to place a custom order, please message us with ideas and details. Custom orders take many days to make. Please keep that in mind if ordering for a special occasion like a birthday, wedding, or holiday.
